Gas Treating Gas treating is the general term given
to describe the cleaning of fuel gas or recycle streams in the refinery.
Typical refineries incorporate amine treating and caustic units in this
service, to remove hydrogen sulphide and mercaptans. Amine systems utilise
either MonoEthanolAmine (MEA) or DiEthanolAmine (DEA). The principal reason for
this processing step is to remove sulphur and other impurities from product
streams. For amine treating, the main process equipment requirements
are an absorber column and a stripper column. The absorber ensures intimate
contact between the incoming stream and the fresh amine cleaning stream. The
stripper column then removes the contaminated stream from the cleaned process
stream. |
