Butamer Butamer is a conversion process, which
utilises a catalyst to convert normal-butane to its isomer (iso-butane).
The Butamer process is typically used in conjunction with alkylation as
the product of the Butamer process is also required for alkylation. It is a
fixed-bed, vapour phase process which is conducted under a low hydrogen partial
pressure atmosphere. The Butamer process requires a dry feed,
containing no moisture. This is because the moisture is a poison for the
catalyst and once poisoned, the catalyst beds' activity is significantly
reduced. Permanent deactivation will result from H2O or oxygenate
contamination. |
