The services provided include studies, concept work, basic engineering, detailed engineering, project management and owners team support on a reimbursable or fixed price basis.
Capability
The key personnel in AVEC possess a wealth of process, hydrocarbon, gas, petrochemical, mineral processing, mining and metallurgical expertise and are well known in the hydrocarbon and metals industries, having been involved in numerous projects both in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa over many years.
We also have relationships with process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and civil/structural contractors who are established in the industry in South Africa and who can add resources and expertise when necessary.
Contracting Style
The AVEC office can execute services on a fixed price, reimbursable or on incentive basis contracts.
AVEC have also developed key alliance contracts with specific clients.
Office
AVEC's modern office facility in Johannesburg is conveniently located in Woodmead. The office provides a mixture of private and open plan cubicles, well suited to the project environment and designed to assist in team building and improve communications.
Software and Systems
We have access to the software and systems typically used by engineering contractors and those currently being used in the office are:
- MS Project is used for planning and Crystal Ball for economic evaluation
- 2D drafting and modelling are done using AutoCAD 2009 and Intergraph Microstation
- Process engineering software includes
ChemCAD for steady state simulation, heat exchanger evaluation and conceptual cost estimating
AFT for hydraulic analysis,
HRTI for heat exchanger detailed evaluation
- Refmodl for conceptual oil refinery modelling
Other commercial and in-house programs are also used for process and engineering design
