Value Added Engineering

Our reason to exist is that we can add value and as a result, our focus is always on how we can add that value. Doing just what we are asked is not enough. We will use techniques to add value on all our projects, regardless of size. Value can be related to project cost, operating cost or revenue, schedule or anything else of importance to our clients.

We have used value engineering on a number of projects in the minerals processing and hydrocarbon / petro-chemical plant industries and achieved significant savings, without sacrificing scope.

Innovative and Flexible

The AVEC office is relatively small, backed by close relationships with companies having expertise in various related fields as well as relationships with industry equipment and service suppliers. This structure allows us to respond in a flexible manner to client requirements without the need to keep large numbers of people on stand-by. This means that people with the right expertise can be used appropriately without increasing costs.

Ideas from a range of people with appropriate experience can be used to ensure that not only the first, easiest solution is considered. Our culture of process development is geared to considering new ideas and being open to the potential for improvement of existing processes.

Range of Services

We offer a range of services from feasibility studies, through the various engineering phases, to construction and commissioning support. In addition, we can provide consulting services such as plant or project audits, troubleshooting, value engineering facilitation and participation, HAZOP studies and design reviews.

Contract Type

We have many contract types from lump sum professional services through to cost-plus reimbursable projects.

We believe in risk and reward contracting with incentives and would be pleased to discuss bonus/penalty scenarios on any potential contracts.

History

Through previous shareholdings by Kvaerner E&C, Davy International and Davy McKee, AVEC has continuously operated in South Africa since 1953.
