AVEC’s shareholding was acquired by VGI Consulting in April 2021. The AVEC office is located within the VGI offices in Centurion, Pretoria and the staff deliver a range of services to the Oil & Gas, Hydrocarbons, Minerals, Metals, Process and Petrochemical Industries. The services provided include studies, concept work, basic engineering, detailed engineering support, project management and owner’s team support on a reimbursable or fixed price basis.

Capability

The personnel in AVEC possess a wealth of process, hydrocarbon, gas, petrochemical, mineral processing and metallurgical expertise and are well known in the hydrocarbon and metals industries, having been involved in numerous projects in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa over many years. As part of the VGI team, AVEC provides key engineering expertise to a variety of projects, but AVEC also maintains it’s own identity and services which are provided to outside parties. As such AVEC ensures on-going relationships with process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and civil/structural contractors and suppliers who are established in the industry in South Africa and who can add resources and expertise when necessary.

Contracting Style

The AVEC office can execute services on a fixed price, reimbursable or on incentive basis contracts.

AVEC’s office is conveniently located in Centurion, Pretoria.

Software and Systems

We have access to the software and systems typically used by engineering contractors and those currently being used in the office are:
  • MS Project is used for planning
  • Process engineering software includes
    • ChemCAD for steady state simulation and heat exchanger evaluation
    • AFT for hydraulic analysis,
  • Refmodl for conceptual oil refinery modeling
  • PHAPro for risk assessment work, including PHAs, HAZOPs and PDAs
    • Our quality management system is implemented in accordance with ISO 9001:2008/2015.

    We offer a range of services from feasibility studies, through the various engineering phases, to construction and commissioning support. In addition, we can provide consulting services such as plant or project audits, troubleshooting, value engineering facilitation and participation.

    Contract Type

    We have many contract types from lump sum professional services through to cost-plus reimbursable projects.

    We believe in risk and reward contracting with incentives and would be pleased to discuss bonus/penalty scenarios on any potential contracts.
